The Minnesota Vikings were uncharacteristically quiet on the first night of the NFL Draft Thursday, making no trades and selecting cornerback Trae Waynes with the eleventh overall pick. Most mock drafts leading up to the event had the Vikings taking the junior from Michigan State in that spot.

General Manager Rick Spielman had mentioned moving down in the draft to acquire more picks, but that was not the case as the Vikings stayed put and took the top corner on the board.

The Vikings also did not trade disgruntled running back Adrian Peterson Thursday, making it much more likely that he will remain with the team with whom he is under contract for the 2015 season.
