EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) - Minnesota Vikings GM Rick Spielman says he has "no interest" in trading star running back Adrian Peterson.

Spielman spoke on Tuesday, two days before the NFL draft opens.

Peterson's agent, Ben Dogra, has been lobbying for the Vikings to trade his client, who is set to return after missing most of last season while dealing with child abuse charges in Texas.

Spielman reiterated the team's long-held stance that it wants Peterson back in purple next season.

Spielman says he knows Peterson made a mistake when he struck his 4-year-old son with a tree branch. But the organization believes he has paid his penalty and deserves another chance to play.

Spielman says if any trades are made on Thursday, he would prefer to move down from the 11th overall draft pick.
