Vernon M. Podlasek, 87, St. Cloud

April 11, 1930 - January 29, 2018

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, February 2nd at 10:30 AM at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Vernon M. Podlasek, age 87, of St. Cloud, who died on Monday at the St. Cloud Hospital. Reverend Thomas Knoblach will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday between 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud and on Friday one hour prior to services at the Church. Parish Prayers will be at 4:30 PM.

Vernon was born April 11, 1930 in Opole to Frank and Helen (Goblirsch) Podlasek. He married Alice Johnson, June 18th, 1955 at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud. They lived in various places in the Upper Midwest before returning to St. Cloud in 2000. Vernon was most recently the retail manager for Big Lots here in St. Cloud. Vernon also worked for the WT Grant Company, Gambles, and Pamida. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Waite Park American Legion Post 428, and a life member of VFW Post 428.

Survivors include his sons, Vernon II (Patricia) Shawnee, KS, James (Laura) Ft Mill, SC; grandchildren, Eileen, Phillip, Steven, Alex, and James Jr, and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Alice who passed away on January 1, 2012 and sister Mary Dechaineau.
