Vernon F. Barthel, 60, Rice

October 23, 1955 - December 4, 2015

Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 10, 2015 at Jubilee Worship Center in St. Cloud for Vernon F. Barthel, age 60, of St. Joseph who died Friday as a result of a construction accident in Royalton. Pastor Brian Gobar will officiate and burial will be in Benton Cemetery, Sauk Rapids. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Sauk Rapids and one hour prior to the services on Thursday at the church in St. Cloud.

Vern was born October 23, 1955 in St. Cloud to Allen & Mary (Locnikar) Barthel. He married Sharon Bergmann at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud and they later divorced. Vern lived in St. Joseph most all of his life and was a Supervisor for Trustone, Inc. in Waite Park and most recently worked for Joe’s Excavating, Inc. in Sartell as a heavy equipment operator and laborer. He was a member of Joy Christian Center in Sauk Rapids. Vern loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing and most of all spending time with his family, especially his 10 grandchildren. Vern was a compassionate man with a big heart who brought many worshipers to Christ’s Love and was excited to meet the Lord himself. He was a hard worker who was always willing to help others out, being a perfectionist in all he did.

Survivors include his children, Brad (Kristy) of St. Cloud, Russell (Amber) of Little Falls, Lisa Erickson (Dave) of Rice, Eric (Mallory) of Sauk Rapids; grandchildren, Bailey, Kylie, Aubrey, Zander, Allison, Abby, Kaitlyn, Kevin, Ella and Maxwell; mother, Mary Scott of St. Joseph; sisters and brothers, Sue Braun, Larry (Karen), Gary all of St. Joseph, Bonnie Buettner of Wyoming and Debbie Blum of Sauk Rapids. He was preceded in death by his father, Allen; step-father, Harry Scott; mother-in-law, Regina Bergmann and father-in-law, Eugene Bergmann.
