Funeral Services will be 12:00 p.m. Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Buffalo Assembly of God Church, Buffalo for Verlyn W. Nelson, age 81, who passed away Sunday at his home. Rev. Del Yetley will officiate and burial will be 11:30 a.m. Monday, September 8, 2014 at Holmesville Cemetery, Detroit Lakes. Friends and family may call one hour prior to the services Saturday at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Clear Lake.

Verlyn was born Nov. 20, 1932 in Detroit Lakes to Algot & Helen (Eastman) Nelson. He grew up in Detroit Lakes and married Bertha Noble on June 19, 1953 in Austin, MN. Verlyn was a pastor for 22 years at four different Assembly of God Churches and then was an Evangelist for the rest of his life. Verlyn and Bertha spent their summers in Clear Lake and their winters in Mission, TX. He enjoyed preaching, fishing, hunting, reading, and traveling. Verlyn was compassionate and caring, and will be remembered as a man of God and prayer. Faith was everything to him.

Survivors include his wife, Bertha of Clear Lake; children, Wendy (Mike) Conlin of Mesa, AZ, Timothy (Pamela) Nelson of Glenrock, WY, and Brenda (Bill) Johnson of Russian Mission, AK; brother, James (Lorraine) Nelson of Fridley; ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Verlyn was preceded in death by his parents; and sister and brother-in-law, Doris & John Serdahl.
