ST. PAUL (AP) — A man is OK after his van slipped into gear and teetered above Interstate 94 during morning rush hour in downtown St. Paul.

Police say the man and his two pit bulls had permission to sleep in his van in the parking lot of First Baptist Church.

As the man woke up about 7:30 a.m. Monday, his knee hit the gearshift and the van rolled backward into a fence.

The Minnesota State Patrol closed an eastbound lane of I-94 as a precaution as the van was towed off the fence.

The 68-year-old St. Paul man and his dogs were not hurt. He was able to leave the van unassisted and get help.

Police say the man did not break any laws.
