SAUK RAPIDS - Plans to bring a new brewery to Sauk Rapids have been delayed. But, the owner says the project is still moving forward.

Construction of the Urban Moose Brewing building was supposed to have been well underway by now. However, owner Roy Dodds says the project has run into some delays due to the soil conditions. He says they're now expecting to break ground in the spring, with a seven month construction process, and be open by the fall of next year.

The Sauk Rapids HRA owns the land, which is where the old Checker Auto store used to be. Dodds says he hasn't closed on the property yet, but he still has an agreement to buy it from the city.  Sauk Rapids Planning Director Todd Schultz says at some point the city will have to extend some timelines on their end, but they're not concerned about it.  Schultz says sometimes delays are just part of development projects.

Dodds owns Flying Pig Pizza in downtown Sauk Rapids, which he says he'll be moving into the new 9,000 square foot building when it's complete.
