MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - The University of Minnesota says the body of a young man found near the Mississippi River in Minneapolis was that of a freshman.

Minneapolis Police said in a news release that officers responded to a 911 call on Sunday morning about an unresponsive person on the riverbank just east of the Stone Arch Bridge. Police said foul play wasn't suspected and that the death was being investigated.

The school released a statement identifying the man as Jacob Anderson of Wayzata. It also said he was a freshman studying in the College of Liberal Arts.

Vice Provost for Student Affairs and Dean of Students Danita Brown Young said the school will reach out to the family to offer "support and resources."

Authorities have not released a cause of death.
