ST. CLOUD - The United Way of Central Minnesota plans to give $2.94 million to area organizations over the next two years.

Their investments will focus on five areas: homelessness, access to food, financial stability, early learning/literacy, and quality out of school time.

Some of the organizations benefiting from United Way funding include: Catholic Charities, Salvation Army, Lutheran Social Services, Anna Marie's Alliance, Place of Hope, and St. Cloud Hospital.

Director of Marketing and Communications Jessica Johnson says the two year cycle begins on July 1st.

The $2.94 million is about a 10 percent decline - or about $150,000 less - than the current two-year cycle. Johnson says that's because workplace contributions to the United Way are down.
