ST. CLOUD -- United Way of Central Minnesota released their 2012-13 budget goal yesterday (Thursday).

The organization hoped to raise $4 million but fell short at $3.7 million according to vice president of community impact Betty Schnettler.

Their goal for the current fiscal year is to raise $4 million. The organization collects money through campaigns, grants, individual giving and corporate giving.

Schnettler says over 83 percent of United Way's budget goes back into the community to fund services like Big Brothers Big Sisters and Catholic Charities.

Schnettler says there are several companies that have pulled together to create a matching fund to encourage others to donate.

United Way hopes this will help them reach their $4 million goal.
