UND Releases List of Possible Nicknames

GRAND FORKS - Wild Weasels, Flying Drones, Potato Diggers, Vicious Prairie Dogs - those were just some of the names submitted for UND's new nickname.

There were a lot of people who think alike. Roughriders, Pilots, Storm, Spirit, Sodbusters,and Warriors were common suggestions.

Hundreds of potential nicknames were submitted to the University's nickname committee. The university has released 214 pages of suggestions along with the reasons the nickname should be picked. They'll be narrowed down to a short list for a public vote.

It comes after a month long process seeking public input on a name to replace the retired "Fighting Sioux".

Another list was released with suggestions that will not be recommended by the committee for numerous reasons.
