A 63-year old St. Wendell Township man escaped injury when fire broke out at his residence about 3:30 Sunday morning.
St. Stephen Fire and Rescue and Stearns County Sheriff’s officers were on the scene at 36697 County Road 4 in St. Wendel Township.
The owner, Michael Roering, woke up to find smoking coming from the first floor but was able to get out of the house. The fire was contained to the first level. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
OAK TOWNSHIP –
Melrose and Freeport Fire Departments responded to a report of a turkey barn fire late Friday afternoon.
The fire on County Road 12 in Oak Township was contained to a small portion of a shed. The barn, which contained 3-day old turkeys, sustained minimal damage. According to the owner, Rothfork Associates, only a small amount of turkeys were lost in the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
