RICHMOND -- Two people are safe after their pickup when through the ice.

The incident happened at about 12:20 p.m. Sunday on Horseshoe Lake in rural Munson Township, near Richmond.

The Stearns County Sheriff's Office says 30-year-old Yang Toua, of Columbia Heights, was leaving the lake when the pickup broke through the ice.

Toua and his passenger, 29-year-old Ge Xiong, of Minneapolis, were able to get out of the vehicle before it sank into about six feet of water.

The pickup was removed from the lake at about 6:00 p.m.

The Stearns County Sheriff's Office is reminding you that ice conditions on lakes are deteriorating due to the recent warm weather.
