NEW LONDON - A Madison couple was killed in the collision of a mini-van and a semi near New London this morning.

The state patrol says a Ford Windstar van driven by 82-year-old Arthur Dove was traveling eastbound on Highway 9 and was hit by a semi traveling northbound on Highway 71.

The intersection is northwest of New London, near Sibley State Park. Dove and his 77-year-old wife Elaine Dove were killed.

The truck driver, a 63 year old man from Hector, was critically injured and was airlifted from the scene to St. Cloud Hospital.

The crash caused Highway 71 to be closed in that area for about 3 hours. The crash occured at 11:15 a.m. and the road reopened at 2: p.m.
