PAYNVESVILLE -- Two Paynesville teenagers were hurt after crashing their vehicle early Sunday morning.

The incident happened at about 12:45 a.m. at the intersection of 180th Street and 253rd Avenue in Paynesville Township.

The Stearns County Sheriff's Office says 17-year-old Eric Hansen and his passenger 18-year-old Jacob Lundquist, both of Paynesville, were heading south on 253rd Avenue, when Hansen turned onto 180th Street, lost control and drove into the ditch.

The vehicle struck several trees before getting stuck in a ravine and starting on fire. The vehicle was a total loss.

Both Hansen and Lundquist were wearing seatbealts and got out of the vehicle before it was engulfed in flames. They were taken to Paynesville Hospital for their injuries.

It is believed speed was a factor in the crash.
