ELK RIVER -- Two people were hurt in a three-vehicle crash Friday afternoon.

The State Patrol says the driver of a Chevy Impala, 66-year-old Patrick Mitchell of Anoka, was slowing or stopped as he tried to merge from Highway 10 onto Highway 169. The patrol says 31-year-old Lauren Kaeppe of Zimmerman then tried to go around the Impala and was rear-ended by a Chevy Tahoe driven by 28-year-old Pavel Liashkovich of Otsego. The SUV pushed Kaeppe's car into the Impala.

Kaeppe and Mitchell suffered non-life threatening injuries. Liashkovich and a passenger in Mitchell's car were not hurt.

The crash happened at about 3:30 p.m.
