Two Area Men Escape Sinking Car

Stearns County authorities say two men are safe after they escaped their sinking car. The sheriff's office says 29-year old Benjamin Lortz of Saint Cloud was driving around midnight Saturday when he lost control around a corner. The vehicle went off the road and landed in a holding pond off County Road 7 and 43rd Avenue in Saint Augusta.

Lortz was able to get out before the car sank. His passenger, 19-year old Cody Erickson of Kimball, also escaped with minor cuts on his arm.
