MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Two men charged with shooting at police officers in downtown Minneapolis are due in Hennepin County court.

Twenty-five-year-old Maurice Carter and 26-year-old Detroit Davis-Riley are expected to make their first court appearance Wednesday. Each man faces nine counts of first-degree assault against police officers in a weekend shooting in downtown Minneapolis.

No police were hit, but six civilians nearby were hospitalized with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman says the pair left a downtown bar at closing time early Saturday and together fired at least 27 shots.

Freeman plans to address the Minneapolis City Council Wednesday about the downtown shooting and other public safety issues.
