The Twins beat the Royals 2-1 Tuesday night at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City.

Kyle Gibson pitched well in his first start since missing his last turn in the rotation with a sore back, shutting out the Royals over seven innings while allowing just two hits and two walks. Gibson struck out seven Kansas City batters on his way to his ninth win of the season.

Danny Santana led the Twins offense with a pair of hits and a pair of runs scored, while Brian Dozier also had a pair of hits in the win.

The Twins are at Kansas City again Wednesday night with Phil Hughes starting against the Royals' Danny Duffy.
