Twins Re-Sign Burton; Grab Pitcher In Rule 5 Draft
The Twins re-signed righthanded relief pitcher Jared Burton to a 2-year $5.5 Million contract extension Thursday. Burton had 5 saves, 55 strikeouts, 16 walks and a 2.18 ERA in 62 innings for the Twins in 2012. Burton will make $2.05 Million in 2013 and $3.25 Million in 2014.
The Twins also claimed righthander Ryan Pressly in the Rule 5 draft off the Boston Red Sox organization. Pressly is 6'3 175 pounds who pitched at Class A and AA in 2012. He was 2-2 with a 2.93 ERA used as a relief pitcher at AA in 2012.
