The Twins have placed righthanded starting pitcher Scott Baker on the 15-day disabled list with a right flexor injury in his right elbow.  Baker was placed on the DL with a right elbow injury before the All Star break.  He is 8-6 with a 3.21 ERA this season.  The Twins are calling up righthander Kevin Slowey to take Baker's spot in the rotation.

Slowey began the season with the Twins working out of the bullpen but suffered right shoulder bursitis and was on the 15-day disabled list until recently when he was pitching at triple-A Rochester.  Slowey will make his first start this season for the Twins Sunday in Cleveland.
