Twins, Mauer Beat Cleveland 7-4
The Twins downed Cleveland 7-4 Saturday night behind solid performances from Trevor Plouffe and Joe Mauer. Mauer was 3-5 with a 2-run homerun and 3 RBIs on the night and Plouffe was 2-4 with a solo homerun and 3 RBIs on the night. Ben Revere and Denard Span each added 2 hits and Revere scored 2 runs. P.J. Walters started the game but didn't hang around long enough to get the win. He allowed 8 hits and 4 earned runs in 4 1/3 innings.
Brian Duensing earned the win in relief throwing 2 shutout innings. Matt Capps threw a scoreless 9th inning for the save. The Twins are 19-33 and will play at Cleveland again today at 2:05, pregame on WJON at 1:35. Lefthander Scott Diamond (3-1) gets the start on the mound for the Twins and righthander Justin Masterson (2-4) toes the rubber for Cleveland.
