The latest reports from FOX sports indicates the Twins have been looking at free agent starting pitchers Jon Garland, Joel Pineiro and Jeff Francis.  Garland is coming off shoulder surgery and was just 1-5 in 2011 with a 4.33 ERA with the Dodgers.  Pineiro was 7-7 with a 5.13 ERA with the Angles in 2011 and Francis was 6-16 with a 4.82 ERA with the Royals in 2011.

Twins free agent outfielder Jason Kubel according the Star Tribune is close to signing a contract and it could be elsewhere.  Kubel is being pursued by the Twins and Cincinnati Reds and maybe others.  The Twins have picked up their pursuit of Kubel after Michael Cuddyer signed with Colorado last week.
