ST. PAUL  (AP) -- Twin Cities home building ended 2010 on a down note.

Residential construction in the metro area fell in December 2010, compared with the same month in 2009.

But for the full year, permits for home construction outpaced 2009.

Permits pulled by Twin Cities home builders last year rose 13 percent over 2009, and the number of number of permitted units spiked, too. However, the dollar value of those permits was lower than in 2009.
