ST. CLOUD -- Today (Tuesday) marked a historic day for St. Cloud with the first ever flights between the St. Cloud Regional Airport and Chicago O'Hare Airport.

A large crowd waited to board the 50-seat SkyWest regional jet, which arrived at about 1:25 p.m. from Chicago O'Hare International Airport.

Those in attendance were excited to fly from St. Cloud whether for leisure or business.

Joyce Meyer says she was looking forward to the flight and was traveling with a special present from her grandson.

"This is my grandson's Flat Stanley from Kindergarten and he is going to be coming with me," says Meyer.

Starting today the St. Cloud Regional Airport will offer twice daily flights to-and-from Chicago O'Hare.

St. Cloud Mayor Dave Kleis hopes this flight is one of many.

"The city of St. Cloud is committed to making sure this succeeds as I know everyone else in their room is," says Kleis.

Congresswomen Michele Bachmann was on the first flight from Chicago to St. Cloud. She stopped for some photos before making the trip back to Chicago.

The flight to Chicago left at about 2:05 p.m. this afternoon.
