ST. CLOUD -- The famous romance between Robbie Hart and Julia Sullivan take center stage at the Paramount Theatre for the opening of The Wedding Singer tonight (Thursday).

The play is based on the 1998 film starring actors Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. In the play version Megan Potter plays the character Julia and John Leach plays Robbie.

Julia is a waitress who meets Robbie during one of his wedding gigs. The two become friends and fall in love all while being engaged to the wrong people.

Director, Linda McGowan says the show features a few of the original songs written by Sandler like, "Grow Old With You," but also includes some new pieces, "there are 80s sounds and bits incorporated into these original numbers so you feel right at home with the music."

Potter and Leach both agree the message of the play is, "love will find you... Be who you know you are and that person will find you through it."

The play goes now through August 3rd with tickets on sale now at the Paramount Box Office.
