ST. CLOUD -- One of four defendants accused of running an illegal gambling operation out of a St. Cloud storefront has been sentenced on the charges.

Steve Ehlen was sentenced to 20 days in jail and fined $900.

A jury found Ehlen guilty of four gross misdemeanors and four misdemeanors in March.

He and three other owners had their business Triple Crown Sweepstakes raided by state gambling authorities and equipment seized.

Ehlen maintains he was operating a sweepstakes and not a lottery like state officials claimed.

Ehlen can serve all but four days of the jail time through community service or electronic home monitoring.

The cases of three other defendants are still moving through the court system.
