ST. CLOUD -- Lane closures on Interstate 94 will be backing up traffic between St. Cloud and Clearwater starting next week.

I-94 will be reduced to a single lane in each direction between Highway 24 in Clearwater and Stearns County Road 75 in St. Cloud starting Monday. The lane closures will last until December.

Crews will be working on the project where they will be prepping the corridor for a major re-surfacing project there next spring and summer.

The lane closures will be Mondays through Saturdays from sunrise to sunset.

Officials urge you to find and alternate route. Traffic projections show westbound cars could be backed up for 20 miles on Friday afternoons and evening rush hours . Major delays are also expected on on Thursday afternoons and Saturdays. Eastbound I-94 will be slower on morning rush hours.
