SAUK RAPIDS -- For over 20 year Talon Innovations has been manufacturing high purity components for the semi-conductor, medical and aerospace industries.

Around 98 percent of their products are shipped out across the country. Vice President of Operations Dave Rietveld says they make about 10,000 parts per week and specialize in rapid prototyping.

"A very complicated assembly that would require, engineering, machining, welding, assembly, we have all in house where most manufacturers would have to send that outside," says Rietveld.

He says they employ over 230 people in their Sauk Rapids location, but also have companies in Tampa and Korea.

Manufacturing Supervisor Rich Novak says there are misleading perceptions in manufacturing, but in reality it can provide a wide range of career paths.

"The abilities and skills you learn in this career path makes you a very flexible employee and you can chart your own course," says Novak.

Talon has hired over 100 machinist over the last two years, roughly the same amount that graduate from technical colleges. However, Manufacturing Supervisor Chad Wellsted says with their rapidly growing company they are in need of more employees.

"We're having a hard time trying to keep up with employee's here with the growth we're seeing in our company in general," says Wellsted.

Wellsted says they currently have 20 positions available from engineering, CNC Machinists, Production Supervisors and more.

You can learn more about these jobs and tour Talon Innovations for yourself on Saturday during the Tour of Manufacturing.
