ST. CLOUD - One of the fastest growing sports in the St. Cloud metro area is Rugby.

We have a men's team called the Feeders, a women's team called the Siren's, and a boys high school team called the Steelhead.  And yet, while the sport is growing in popularity, there are still a lot of people that don't know a whole lot about it.

Trevor Zwack is the President of the St. Cloud Rugby Association.  He says it's similar to it's cousin, American football.

Zwack says there are a lot of reasons to love the sport.

The sport dates back to the mid 1800's in England.  Zwack says both St. Cloud State University and St. John's University have had teams for about 40 years.  St. Cloud's men's team - the Feeders - have been playing since 2000 and are one of the top teams in the state.  The boys high school team - the Steelhead - won the state championship earlier this year.

Zwack says he'd like to see St. Cloud become the mecca of Rugby in Minnesota.

The teams play their home games at Diocese Park on Maine Prairie Road.  It's owned by the city, but the Association pays to maintain the field.  Fans are welcome to come out and watch them play.
