A Hibbing couple, 45-year-old Kathy Davey and 51-year-old Kevin Davey, were in town for the stock car races. They were both well known in the state's racing community.

They were driving down Benton Drive at about 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 8th when another vehicle drove over the Sauk Rapids bridge, allegedly went through a red light, and struck the Davey's vehicle. The Daveys were both killed in the crash. A third person in their vehicle was hurt.

Twenty-two-year-old Tom Souvannaphong of St. Cloud was arrested, and charged in the crash. He's facing four counts of criminal vehicular homicide, two counts of criminal vehicular operation, two counts of driving while impaired, and one count of driving without a license. A breathalyzer at the police department several hours later indicated Souvannaphong's blood alcohol level was at .10, which is above the legal limit to drive.

Souvannaphong's next court appearance is a settlement conference scheduled for February 18th.

We'll continue our Top 10 countdown tomorrow (Tuesday) with our #7 story - a bank robbery with an interesting twist.
