Tonight’s Section 8AA Playoff Hockey Matchups

The Minnesota boys high school hockey section tournament really heats up tonight for St Cloud area teams. Here is a look at Section 8AA.

Section 8AA

#5 Tech (14-10) @ #4 Bemidji (7-15-2)

Bemidji topped Tech 3-2 in Bemidji on December 8th. Bemidji jumped out to a 2-0 lead after one period on a power play goal from Sam Bruestle and an even strength tally from Noah Burns.

Tech got on the board at 1:27 of the second period on a Davis Reinholz power play goal to make it a 2-1 game. However, Bemidji took back the two-goal lead two minutes later on a Brett Isensee goal.

The Tigers got a goal from Riley Bates late in the second period but could not close the gap in the third as both teams went scoreless.

#8 River Lakes (11-14) @ #1 Moorhead (11-10-2)

River Lakes topped Northern Lakes 9-5 on Saturday night to earn the trip to face the top-seeded Spuds. The Stars erased 2-0 and 3-1 deficits to get the victory over the Lightning. River Lakes pulled away with a five goal third period.

Stefan Tomovic and Grant Thompson each contributed five points in the win, and Nick Bergeson had four assists.
