Tommie Lee Jackson, age 64, of Sauk Rapids, MN died Thursday, October 22, 2015 in Foley, MN after a courageous battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be held November 7, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Fountain Springs Baptist Church in Millen, GA. Burial will take place at Fountain Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, Millen, GA. Funeral arrangements were made by Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN.

Tommie Lee Jackson was born on September 19, 1951 in Swainsboro, GA to Rev. Thomas and Bertha Mae (Clarke) Jackson. Tommie married Peter Bofah. They later divorced. She received her B.A. in 1972 from Paine College, Augusta, GA and her M.A. in 1973 and Ph.D in 1985 in English from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. Tommie was a professor at Howard University, Washington, DC and then at St. Cloud State University, St. Cloud, MN since 1986. She specialized in the literature of the Afrian Diaspora. Tommie enjoyed writing books, gardening, cooking and the stock market.

Tommie is survived by her son Kofi Ulysses Bofah, founder and chairman of Onyx Investments, of Chicago, IL; her sisters, Bertha Jackson of Swainsboro, GA; and Hattie Jackson of Minneapolis, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
