Tigers Beat Twins 8-7
The Detroit Tigers beat the Twins 8-7 Tuesday night in Detroit. The Tigers scored a run in the 7th inning to tie the game at 7 before Detroit pulled ahead with a run in the 8th inning. Brandon Boesch had the go-ahead sacrifice fly against Twins' reliever Phil Dumatrait in the 8th inning for the Tigers. Justin Morneau hit 2 homeruns and drove in 3 runs for the Twins. Denard Span was 2-5 with a run scored for Minnesota. Brian Duensing started the game and threw 4 2/3 innings with 9 hits and 6 earned runs allowed. He gave up 6 runs in the 5th inning. Minnesota is 17-36 and has lost 9 of their last 11. The Twins are 15 1/2 games back of Cleveland for first place in the American League Central. Minnesota will play at Detroit again tonight to close the 3-game series at 6:05, pregame on WJON at 5:35.
