Ticket Sales For Twins Games Fall 9 Percent

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Ticket sales for the Minnesota Twins have been slow this year, as fans seem reluctant to pay to see a team coming off three straight 90-loss seasons.

The team has sold 1.6 million tickets so far this year. That's almost 9 percent lower than the 1.75 million sold at this point last year.

Team President David St. Peter acknowledges that the team's mediocrity in the past is taking a toll on this year's sales.

The Twins sold 17,100 season tickets this year. They were hoping to sell 17,500. Even that represents tempered expectations from the 19,000 sold last year and the 23,000 the year before that.

The Twins' home opener is on April 7 against Oakland.
