ELK RIVER, Minn. (AP) - Thousands of Minnesota adrenaline junkies took their chances to run with the bulls during an event in Elk River.

About 3,000 people participated in Saturday's Great Bull Run Event, which is an Americanized version of Pamplona's annual San Fermin festival. The company that runs the event has done seven bull runs nationwide since August.

Several people were treated for scrapes and bruises, but there were no major injuries as the stampeding bulls chased participants around a quarter-mile track.

Organizer Rob Dickens says he and his business partner came up with the idea after they tried to plan a trip to Spain to run with the bulls themselves, but realized it was too expensive and difficult for themselves, and many others, to make the trip.
