Thomas Dan Murray, age 68, passed away on July 6, 2014 at the Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina.

He was born on January 22, 1946 to Loring and Darlene (Hilyar) Murray. On March 13, 1965 he was united in marriage to Joann Taylor; they raised three wonderful children. Tom and Joann owned Murray’s Corner Store, east of Princeton, for 23 years.

After retiring from the Sheriff’s Department, he started Backwood’s Sports, which he ran up until his passing. Tom was also a Wyanett Township Supervisor for 13 years.

He took pride in building racecars and racecar engines. Tom especially enjoyed watching his son race, and recently, watching his granddaughter Courtney race around the track. Tom loved to travel and went with his daughters and granddaughters all over the country. He will be dearly missed by many.

Tom is survived by his son Dan Murray of Princeton; daughters, Roxanne Murray of Dalbo and Susan Murray of Blaine; granddaughters, Courtney and Cayla Murray of Princeton; friend, Diane and their dog Jack; brothers, Jim (Kathy) Murray of St. Leo and Ken (Barb) Murray of Princeton; as well as many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
