Thomas A. Hanson, Zimmerman, MN, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2016.

Tom was born on February 18,1946. He moved to Zimmerman from Wisconsin to work as an engineer at Northern States Power and he ultimately started his own business building pole buildings, arenas and homes in the area. Tom joined the Navy directly out of high school; upon completion of study of pressurized water nuclear reactors and geared steam turbines, he served four years as a Machinist Mate on the USS Kamehameha (SSBN-642), a Benjamin Franklin-class ballistic missile submarine. Once in Zimmerman, there was never a time when Tom didn’t have a dog by his side and a few wild kitties to feed. His hobbies were varied, and included making a sailboat just because he could. When ill health prevented him from building, he enjoyed working with ranchers in the area.

Tom is survived by three sisters, Lois Posso, Sharon Hanson-Hogue, Ellen (Saad) Khalifa, and by many nieces, nephews and cousins, who will remember his wit and wicked sense of humor. He’s further survived by his friends and neighbors; all whom he appreciated and spent his time, and finally survived by faithful and constant companion Pearl, his black lab, still by his side.

As per Tom's request, no public memorial services will be held.
