The Weekender: Veterans’ Day Recognition, Plays, and Concerts
Patrick Dewane returns to St. John's University with 'Accidental Hero,' the tale of his grandfather's World War II story. Also this weekend, there is a new exhibit at Gallery St. Germain, and St. Cloud Art Crawl has it's final event for 2014.

Accidental Hero
Stephen B. Humphrey Theater - St. John's UniversityCelebrating Veteran's Day, Patrick Dewane tells the story of how his grandfather, who grew up on a farm in the Midwest, became a World War II soldier in Accidental Hero. This one-man play is brought together through the writings of Dewane's grandfather about the war. The story is accompanied by rare color World War II film, music, and photos from the 1940s. Tickets are $24, $21 for seniors, $14 for CSB/SJU faculty & staff, and $10 for youth & students.

The Nutcracker
Paramount TheaterStroia Ballet Company presents The Nutcracker Ballet. This family classic was originally written by E.T.A. Hoffman, with music by Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. It tells the story of Clara as she travels to the magical lands of the Sugar Plum Fairy, the Mouse Queen, and of course the Nutcracker Prince. Tickets are $19 for adults, $16 for seniors & students, and children 12 & under are $12.

St. Cloud Art Crawl
Downtown St. CloudDowntown St. Cloud Art Crawl returns for the final art crawl of 2014. Walk along the streets of the historic downtown area, and enjoy a wide variety of art while meeting the local and regional artist behind it. Janet Olney
Gallery Saint GermainGallery Saint Germain presents the work of Janet Olney. She weaves baskets out of all sorts of material from seagrass, and yarn, to reed. She has been weaving since 1984. The exhibit is already underway, and will continue until December 6th. Gallery Saint Germain is open Wednesday - Fridays fromm 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. The gallery is also open on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. There will be a reception this Friday from 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. There is a whole list of upcoming exhibits at Gallery Saint Germain.CLICK HERE for more information.

Music at St. Marys
St. Mary's Cathedral - St. CloudThe St. Cloud State University Choral Ensembles present their annual concert, Music at St. Mary's. The concert will feature performances by the St. Cloud State University Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, Women's Choir, and Men's Choir. Tickets are free for St. Cloud State University students, staff, & faculty with an SCSU ID. All other student tickets are $5, $10 for adults, and $5 for seniors. There will be new, exciting music this year, as well as choral classics for everyone to enjoy.
