ST. CLOUD -- The Vex Robotics Competition kicks off tomorrow (Saturday) at the River's Edge Convention Center.

Students from across the state will be participating in the event. This year there are 35 teams competing to take first place.

Event coordinator, Aaron Barker says the event is high energy for the participants and the crowd.

With the guidance from teachers and parents the students will have to be innovative with their robot design which will earn them points in the competition to win the Excellence Award.

The winners will compete in the World Championship which is held in California. Last year's local winners were, Boss Botz. They are competing again this year in hopes to keep their title. The competition starts at 10:00 a.m. and is expected to last through the afternoon. The event is free and open to the public.
