Teen Hurt in Stearns County Farm Accident

FREEPORT — A Melrose boy was hurt after an accident on a Stearns County farm today (Tuesday).

The Sheriff’s Office says 45-year-old Tom Herdering was climbing aboard a tractor to take over for 13-year-old Kurt Herdering. Authorities say both Herderings fell off as the tractor began rolling backwards.

The teen was then caught under the left front tire. The tractor continued rolling backward until it came to rest up against a shed.

Kurt Herdering was conscious and alert and taken to Albany Hospital for treatment.

The accident happened at 27855 County Road 17 north of Freeport at about 2:30 p.m.
