Target Watching Workers’ Protests In Bangladesh

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Target is among retail companies monitoring violent protests by garment workers in Bangladesh.

Police have fired rubber bullets and tear gas in clashes with thousands of garment workers demanding better minimum wages. The violence has taken place in industrial areas near the capital of Dhaka.

Target does business with about 35 factories in Bangladesh, importing $100 million to $150 million in goods annually from the country.

The Minneapolis-based retailer says it's watching the protests closely, but they've had a minimal impact on business so far.
