Tanker Carrying Explosive Material Overturns

HIBBING (AP) – A tanker truck carrying 40,000 pounds of an explosive material has overturned in Hibbing.

Authorities say none of the ammonium nitrate has spilled from the tanker outside Hibbing Taconite. The chemical is used in the blasting process at the site.

Cliff Natural Resources owns Hibbing Taconite. Cliff says the driver of the truck has been taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Local authorities have closed a portion of Highway 5 near the plant entrance. A small amount of fuel spilled from the truck.
