Minnesota Twins right fielder Torii Hunter has decided to retire. The Twins confirmed Monday that Hunter will call it a career. He told the Star Tribune he began the year believing this would be his last in baseball, preferring to focus on his family.
Former Twins centerfielder Torii Hunter has agreed to sign a 2-year $26 Million contract according to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports. Hunter has reportedly narrowed his choices to Texas, Detroit and Atlanta. Hunter is a 37-year old rightfielder at this point in his career. He batted .313 with 16 homeruns and 92 RBIs for the Los Angeles Angels in 2012.
The Twins lost 4-0 in Anaheim to the L.A. Angels Tuesday night. Jerome Williams threw the complete-game 3-hit shutout to get the win. Francisco Liriano threw 5 1/3 innings with 7 hits and 4 earned runs allowed to take the loss and drop to 0-4. Torii Hunter was 2-2 with a homerun and 2 RBIs and Howie Kendrick was 3-4 with a solo homerun for the Angels. Denard Span had 2 of the 3 hits for the Twins.
