Criminal charges have been filed against a Clearwater woman who is accused of illegally collecting unemployment benefits for her husband while she worked for a state agency that handles unemployment claims.
An Albany woman has pleaded guilty to stealing money from the Holdingford Chamber of Commerce. Thirty-four-year-old Sarah Schmidt has pleaded guilty to two felony counts of theft-by swindle. A third count will be dismissed as part of the plea agreement.
An arrest warrant has been issued for a man who was charged with more than a dozen theft-by swindle charges involving his former marine business. Fifty-five-year-old Randy Pierson is now wanted by authorities after failing to appear at his sentencing hearing Thursday.
An Avon woman has pleaded guilty to three counts of theft-by swindle after stealing thousands of dollars from the Albany Girls Basketball Association. In exchange for her guilty pleas, two other similar charges were dropped.
