Tech’s Bates Still Alive In State Tennis Tournament
Tech's Riley Bates lost a first round match to Maalik Konop DeFreitas of Saint Paul Highland Park 6-4 and 7-6 in the first round of the state Class AA individual singles competition before winning 6-1 and 6-1 over Luke Robertson of Bloomington Jefferson in the consolation bracket. The Tech doubles team of Luke Zweiner and Chris Mavetz were eliminated by loses back to back matches. The Foley doubles team of Ben Hageman and Sam Wittwer in Class A lost 2 matches and were eliminated as well.
