Stearns County Commissioners have approved some fee increases to better help cover the costs of providing services. The change averages out to be about a 2.9% increase.
St. Cloud Mayor Dave Kleis has presented the city council with the 2013 preliminary budget and levy Monday night. He's proposing freezing the tax levy, but spending less.
Stearns County will collect less taxes next year after the board of commissioners voted on a 1% decrease in the 2012 budget. The board had three options to choose from including a 1% increase, a 1/3% decrease and a 1% decrease.
Stearns County Administrator George Rindelaub presented three budget and levy scenarios to county commissioners today. The proposals were a zero percent increase, one percent decrease and a one percent increase.
