Organizers of the Minnesota Redneck Festival say they will reschedule their event out of respect for the family of a sheriff's deputy killed in the line of duty.

A report says the suspect who shot and killed a sheriff's deputy at St. Cloud Hospital last month was never evaluated by a psychiatrist while at the hospital. The federal Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services also says the suspect was placed on a 72-hour hold by a physician assistant rather than a physician.

The community of Aitkin and law enforcement from all over Minnesota are mourning the loss of Aitkin County Deputy Steven Sandberg, who was fatally shot Sunday at St. Cloud Hospital by the domestic violence defendant he was monitoring.

Aitkin County's sheriff says the man charged with kidnapping and terrorizing his wife was not under arrest when he grabbed a deputy's gun at a St. Cloud hospital and fatally shot him.

A funeral has been set for the Aitkin County sheriff's deputy who was killed in the line of duty. The funeral for Steven Sandberg is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at Aitkin High School.
