Stearns County is considering its next move now that a Stearns County Sheriff's sergeant has pleaded guilty in a criminal sexual conduct case. Officials are investigating whether they can collect on Phil Meemken's salary and benefits paid out while on leave.

Sheriff's Sergeant Crim Sex Trial Pushed Back

The criminal sexual conduct trial of a Stearns County sheriff's sergeant has been pushed back to January. Phil Meemken's trial was previously scheduled to start in Anoka County October 3rd. A Stearns County judge recently ruled the trial should be moved out of Stearns County because of pre-trial publicity.

Judge Grants Change Of Venue In Meemken Case

A judge has granted an accused Stearns County Sheriff's Sergeant a change of venue in his criminal sexual conduct case. Judge Vicki Landwehr ruled Phil Meemken can have his trial moved out of Stearns County because of pretrial publicity.
