The Stearns County Sheriff's Department says Tanika Henkel was driving on County Road 7, about three miles north of Fairhaven, at about 3:30 a.m. when she swerved to avoid a deer and went into the ditch.

A 50-year-old St. Augusta man has been hurt in a hunting accident. The Stearns County Sheriff's Department says Daniel Nelson was hunting on his property near County Road 136.

A rash of day-time burglaries have been reported in rural Stearns County. Sheriff John Sanner says there have been 48 reported so far this year in Eden Lake, Maine Prairie, Munson, Lynden, Avon, and LeSauk Townships, as well as in the cities of St. Augusta and Rockville.

The Stearns County Sheriff says an Eden Lake Township resident was startled by an intruder this (Monday) morning. Before the suspect entered the home he rang the doorbell twice, when no one answered he walked in.

A vacant farm home has been destroyed by fire. The Stearns County Sheriff says fire crews were called to the farmsite on County Road 142 in Fairhaven Township at about 7:00 p.m. last (Sunday) night.

The Stearns County Sheriff says alcohol may have been a factor in a one-vehicle rollover. The incident happened at about 1:00 a.m. on Sunday on County Road 1 in Brockway Township.

Deputies busted an underage party over the weekend. The Stearns County Sheriff's Office heard about the party in St. Augusta at about 2:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Fifty cows died in a barn fire early this (Friday) morning in Stearns County's Spring Hill Township. The Sheriff says the incident happened just after 2:00 a.m. at the Daniel Welle farm. The barn contained about 75 cows, only 20-25 got out safely.

One person has died in a collision between a motorcycle and a deer in Stearns County. The sheriff's department says 47-year-old passenger, Laura Ann Tenvoorde-Behrend, was killed the motorcycle hit a deer about 8 p.m. Wednesday in Avon Township.

Fire destroyed a shed near Cold Spring. Officials were called just before noon yesterday (Sunday) to the fire on Hidden Cove Road.
